Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican American journalist. Her current job is with ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter and sometimes hosts SportsNation. She began her career at ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is bi-lingual and has been since her age of nine. This ability allowed her to land her first job at Univision, Miami. She had the opportunity to collaborate as a producer for national programs such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Then she was offered the position of an reporter at The CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. She also worked as a journalist with KNVO TV 48 Univision in Rio Grande Valley Texas. She reported on stories related to migration and trafficking of drugs in both Texas and Mexico. She also filled in anchors of sports and weather. Then she anchor and wrote on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was assigned more responsibility. She did pieces on the Major League Baseball's ALDS ALCS and World Series the Dallas Cowboys the NBA postseason as well as the Finals FC Dallas and the Dallas Stars. In addition, she hosted on the regional Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She was promoted as anchor of the sports segment for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. She also served in that position for the channel's magazine program Primer Impacto and for UniMas Network's Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta was born in Veracruz Mexico. At some point they moved from Veracruz Mexico to Mexico City where she was born on 22 November 1985. She's older than her sister. In 1992 the family left Mexico in search of the US and was settled in Miami. They divorced soon following and in the year 1995 she tied the knot with a naval architect named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo died in 2006 of kidney cancer. Her residence was with her family in Canton Ohio with her older sister throughout the summer which was the time she received the opportunity of a job. As a senior in high school, and having an idea of what she wanted to do for her life, Antonietta visited at the University of Mount Union to see if it would meet her needs. It was discovered that she was a fan of the campus and also that the university had an academic program that she liked. After graduating from school, she was enrolled at the university with a major in media studies. They developed a lasting relationship with her teacher Mark Bergmann who was the director at WRMU 91.1 FM, of which she was a part. He encouraged her to be confident and self-confident. His passion for journalism deeply affected her, and she, in turn, was determined to fulfill his standards and never let him down.
